It's already spring, but this update will be a backlog from winter. Every season, Nordoff-Robbins (music therapy centre) holds a charity function called the Cafe series, where one is invited to fine delicacies and live music on a fine Sunday afternoon. It started in autumn just this year, also held in the same location: Belle Saveur Patisserie on 551 High Street, Penrith.

Considering how my next path in life will... (likely... maybe...) be somehow related or hopefully part of Nordoff Robbins, (everything is so unsure after graduation... but that's a whole 'other matter, not to be discussed here) it was good to support it in some other way than paying uni fees. Not to mention the awesome food of course.

The last time I came, the food was impressive, the atmosphere was vibrant and the staff provided superb service. No different this time! Look at that~

I should really have taken a better picture of the shepherd's pie at the back. It had amazing flavors- the beef wasn't the typical minced beef that doesn't taste like any sort of meat at all. Chunks of meat filled the small pie and I always prefer my pies with mashed potato on top :D

Sweet potato, artichoke, feta and capsicum. Interesting blend of sweet and salty.

Mushroom soup served in a little shot glass. Great presentation and it was such a waste that some people don't eat/like mushrooms... not targeting anyone in particular, but wasting food= bad.

I do love vivid colours :D especially in food photography.
Found myself missing the duck macaroon from last season though, that was such a great dish, I wonder if I will ever get to taste it again...

Desserts!! My favourite part~ Chocolate pudding was warm and the ball of caramel chocolate was melting beautifully over it. That did make taking a photo of this rather tricky because the brandy snap doesn't balance on a ball of molten chocolate. I've had to re-balance it on, take a quick photo and watch it fall, hoping Stanley takes a proper non-blurry shot. And as usual, Stanley doesn't disappoint.

Lemon macaroon. I like to think lemon as a perfect refresher for the palate in between meals, but these work too, as a sugar hit instead.

Marshmallow fun with hot chocolate.

Rhubarb creme brulee in a soup spoon. Actually, I wonder why Asian soup spoons differ so much from Western soup spoons.... it's not like Asians have bigger mouths or anything, why is our spoon so much bigger and clumsy-looking?? Bigger the spoon the better in this case though, not complaining!

More marshmallow fun :D

How beautiful is this, it can be considered a work of art. All the dessert were presented on a single white plate and the placement of each item, the dots of sauce, the shapes... Belle Saveur isn't all about the flavor despite its name, it's about looking beautiful too... impressed by the details on the squiggle of chocolate shard.
I shall end this entry the same way I did before- by wishing it was closer to home or even in the CBD area... rather than all the way out West in Penrith. Adriano Zumbo might have found a rival in Chef Justin Baker, owner of Belle Saveur.
